Bots in Words With Friends are computer programmed players that play online games with the appearance of a real person. These fake players are not explicitly stated to be in the game online. However, there are many instances where users have come across the same certain players that have many characteristics of a computer.

This includes players that can play in 6 languages, often play unusual words, and don't have profile information. Another good hint is if the opponent makes a move soon after you play no matter the time of day. Some suspected bots are named Ella Haugerud, Tara McCluskey, and Carlita Lopez. There is even a bot list on Reddit that states many of the computers people have come across to.

Some players seem unhappy about this situation because they want to be playing against real people. It can seem like a trick by Words With Friends because there is no true way to tell if the player is a bot or not. Although because there is nothing confirmed, there is no way of knowing if the computers have been created by the game or not.
